🫄🏾OB - Clinical Decision Cards
Students draw a card to find abnormal assessment data. For example, their patient may have a positive amnisure test, a boggy fundus at U+3, elevated blood pressure in triage, or a palpable umbilical cord.
There are 25 different critical patient assessment findings possible.
These cards can be used as a clinical supplement, add-on to a lab activity, or a unique addition to a small group case study in lecture. There are endless possibilities!
📝 How to Use Clinical Decision Cards
1. Students pick a card containing abnormal assessment findings or clinical red flags.
2. Using their assigned patient from clinical, lab or a case study, they imagine caring for them with this new information.
3. Next, students create a care plan based on the abnormal assessment that includes their nursing interventions.
4. Upon completion, students have demonstrated clinical judgment and decision-making when presented with abnormal or unexpected findings.
