Welcome, I'm so glad you found this corner of the internet! 👋🏽

I’m Martha and I share free resources (check out all my articles at the Idea Bank or my video tutorial on building a virtual escape room in Google Forms) as well virtual tools and products that blend engagement with nursing clinical judgment.

I started BreakoutRN to give nursing educators the tools to move toward active learning one activity at a time.

How did this all start?

The pandemic was a weird time... lots of people were making sourdough bread 🥖or learning to knit 🧶. But not me. That time warp spurred some wild creativity, and I started creating products for nurse educators.

It started with a basic video to share what I knew about building a virtual escape room in Google Forms. Now I share my ideas and products with innovative nurse educators who are looking for more active learning ideas!

I believe that together we can improve nursing education.

With a strong community to share ideas, support experimentation, and ground our teaching practice in real-world nursing, we will continue to shape the future of healthcare.

Business Values

At BreakoutRN, my values guide all that I do. I believe in blending innovation with practicality, fostering kindness in every interaction, and empowering nurse educators to transform learning one small, impactful step at a time. These principles are the heart of my mission: making active learning approachable, sustainable, and meaningful for educators and students alike. And use alliteration whenever possible 😜

Create community

Connect educators who think outside of the box, want to experiment, and who lead with kindness.

Prioritize Practicality

Be innovative while grounding the ideas in real-world scenarios that are useful to everyday educators.

Embrace Experimentation

Trying new ways of teaching, learning, and working with students. Being thoughtful about the results.

I would love to hear from you!
